About Us Corporate

We provide professional integrated pest management (IPM) services, a high-tech form of pest control. We are called professional pest managers, not exterminators or fumigators.  We provide pest management, not extermination or fumigation. Excluding pests before they cause a pest offence is a good example of IPM at work.

PES Eradicates Severe Bedbug Infestation Using Heat Method

This week, Alan Vaudry, Manager of PES - Professional Ecological Services, treated a living space that had an extremely severe bed bug infestation. The entire space in the treated unit was heated to temperatures above those that bedbugs can survive.

"It was the most severe bed bug infestation that I have ever seen!" said Alan Vaudry, M.P.M. and a 35 year veteran in the application of Integrated Pest Management methods and techniques. Vaudry remarked, "This infestation was so severe that we had to use two different types of heat to ensure eradication."

Crows Attacking People Walking Down Street

Alan Vaudry, Manager of PES explains, "People are complaining about crows dive-bombing them and acting very aggressively. It is as though they do not want to let anyone walk or be in certain areas. The crows have a nest nearby and are protecting their young from you, whom they consider a possible predator. This behaviour lasts only a few weeks until the young are off the nest. We need to walk around, or avoid areas where the parent crows are bothering us."

Flying Moisture Ants!

August has come and mating flights of moisture ants are occurring inside houses. Surprisingly, people never see these ants during the year. The moisture ants suddenly emerge during the summer. Within a few hours, winged males and females, with many attending workers, emerge from a crack in the floor or wall. The winged males and females are attracted to light and fly toward windows. The flight usually ends within a few hours but may reoccur over a few days. These ants do not cause any damage to dry wood.

PES featured in Times Colonist: July 6, 2011

Alan Vaudry, manager of Professional Ecological Services, was interviewed by the Times Colonist in Victoria. He provided information and useful tips on how to take control of pests this summer. Read more...

Bed Bugs: We are pleased to announce that we now offer heat treatments for bed bugs. This is an ideal means of killing infestations. From small apartments, to townhouses, houses and small buildings, we do it all. Heat treatments can be provided inside containers, with furniture and other items treated only.

Wasps and Hornets: Wasps and hornets are already building large nests and they are stinging people. These pests are more aggressive than normal, as though they are upset with the much delayed summer. Call us for wasp nest control and removal.

Carpenter Ants: Carpenter Ants continue to be confused by the weather. Normally they will have a major mating flight in May. This year the flight was delayed, with winged males and females being reported throughout June. Carpenter Ant Treatments are still being booked in large numbers compared to previous years.
